About This Tour

Discover the natural side of Rio de Janeiro on this Tijuca Forest and Botanical Garden tour, a half-day adventure designed for travelers from the United States and Canada looking for unique things to do in Rio beyond Christ the Redeemer, Sugarloaf Mountain and the city's famous beaches.

This approximately 4-hour Rio nature tour combines tropical forest, panoramic viewpoints, waterfalls and one of Brazil's most important botanical gardens, with the adventure of traveling aboard a restored open-top military jeep.

Begin at the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden, where you'll discover an impressive collection of Brazilian and international plant life. Explore the Sensory Garden, see the famous Brazilwood tree that gave the country its name, visit Turtle Lake and admire the giant Victoria Amazonica water lilies.

Walk beneath the Botanical Garden's iconic 200-year-old Imperial Palm trees and continue toward its collections of tropical orchids and bromeliads.

The adventure then continues to Chinese View (Vista Chinesa), one of Rio's best-known panoramic viewpoints. Located approximately 388 meters above sea level, it offers beautiful views across Rio's combination of mountains, tropical forest and ocean, with Christ the Redeemer and Sugarloaf Mountain visible in the distance.

Next, venture into Tijuca National Park, home to one of the world's largest urban forests. Stop at the beautiful Taunay Waterfall and enjoy an easy, low-intensity walk through the Atlantic Forest while learning about the area's unique flora and fauna.

Before returning to your hotel, travel past São Conrado Beach, famous for the paragliders and hang gliders that descend from the surrounding mountains toward the coastline.

For visitors searching for things to do in Rio de Janeiro, Tijuca Forest tours, Rio nature tours or activities beyond Rio's beaches, this half-day experience offers an excellent introduction to the city's extraordinary natural environment.

This tour offers two booking options, allowing you to choose the one that best suits your trip. You can book the experience with admission to the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden included or select the more affordable option without an admission ticket.

Both options let you discover Rio de Janeiro’s greener side on an approximately 4-hour tour, combining the natural surroundings of Tijuca Forest, the landscapes of the Atlantic Forest, and some of the city’s most iconic natural attractions.

If you choose the admission-included option, admission to the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden is included in the booking price. If you select the option without a ticket, admission to the Botanical Garden is not included in the price.

Guadalupe (Mexico)
