Rio Olympic Boulevard, Museum of Tomorrow and Historic Downtown Tour
About This Tour
Explore Rio de Janeiro’s past, present and future on a guided city tour with Museum of Tomorrow admission and hotel transportation.
Discover a different side of Rio de Janeiro on this half-day tour of the Olympic Boulevard, the Museum of Tomorrow and Rio’s historic downtown. The experience combines transportation in an air-conditioned vehicle with a guided walking tour through some of the city’s most important historical and cultural sites.
After pickup from your hotel in Rio’s South Zone, begin at Valongo Wharf, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and an essential location for understanding the African influence on Brazilian history and culture.
Continue to the spectacular Eduardo Kobra Ethnicities Mural, one of the largest graffiti murals in the world. Its colorful portraits represent five ethnic groups and have become a symbol of Rio’s revitalized port district.
Walk along the Olympic Boulevard toward the Museum of Tomorrow, where admission is included. Located inside an impressive futuristic building, this interactive museum explores the planet’s future, humanity and the impact of the choices we make today.
Travel symbolically from the future into the past with a visit to the São Bento Monastery. Discover the remarkable contrast between its simple exterior and its richly decorated Baroque interior filled with golden details.
You will also see the Rio 2016 Olympic Cauldron, designed by American artist Anthony Howe, and visit historic Praça XV, where important events from Brazil’s colonial and imperial periods took place.
The final stop is the celebrated Confeitaria Colombo, regarded as one of the world’s most beautiful historic cafés. Admire its elegant Art Nouveau decoration and, if you wish, purchase Brazilian snacks and desserts such as coxinhas or brigadeiros.
Please note: Confeitaria Colombo is closed on Sundays and will not be visited on Sunday departures.

El Museo del Mañana fue lo mejor del recorrido, pero también nos encantó conocer el Mural de Kobra y la historia del Cais do Valongo. El guía explicó todo de forma muy claro y amena
